NEW FICTION BOOK ON EXECUTIVE PROTECTION - MORTAL SHIELD
An associate, Thomas Taylor, has written a fiction book about
the protection industry. The book Mortal Shield
gets into the mindset of the people involved in the EP community,
the dignitaries they protect, and the opponents they attempt
to foil. I thought Mortal Shield was a realistic portrayal
of protection work, which captures the everyday challenge
of guarding high-level VIPs.
The writer, Thomas Taylor's involvement in protective operations
began in 1974, when he was assigned to the Governor's Security
Division with the Missouri State Highway Patrol. He served
on the protective details of four different governors, eventually
rising to the Commander of the Governor's Security Division
for eight years. Tom currently works as a Special Projects
Advisor for Gavin de Becker and Associates, a firm that advises
and protects high-risk public figures. You can get the book
from Amazon.

PASSING
Passing the vehicle in front you is one of those things we do
often but dont give much thought. Once the decision to
pass a vehicle in an urban environment realize and remember
that you and your car are going to be spending a good deal of
time in the wrong lane. To give you an idea of how much time
and distance, if you are traveling at 50 mph and passing someone
going 40 mph, you will need about 10 seconds and 736 feet to
safely complete the pass. Read

FUEL ECONOMY
The high cost of fuel is on every ones mind, but we should
also be thinking about the way we drive. Our driving style
has a lot to do with fuel economy. There is nothing we can
do about fuel costs, but there are things we can do about
the way we drive.
Aggressive driving (speeding hard acceleration
hard braking) can lower your gas mileage by 33 percent at
highway speeds and by 5 percent around town. What strikes
you is that, how you drive in the city makes little difference
on fuel mileage, but your highway driving style makes a big
impact on your wallet. As an example - If you are paying $3.25/gallon
driving aggressively on the open roads it is the same as paying
$4.33/gallon that should get your attention.
