Tony Scotti Associates Certified Instructors
We have been conducting driver training programs for more than 35 years. During that time we have establish a method of instruction that can be described as a scientific and objective approach to driver training. The philosophy is simple – it makes no difference who you are - what you are driving and where you are driving it – a driver has to live within the laws of physics. Derived from years of research and development, the Scotti method of training integrates scientific data and the laws of physics into cohesive, scenario based training that takes into consideration the critical components of driving – the vehicle, the environment and the driver.
Scotti Certified Driving Instructors (SCDI), have gone through a combination of classroom and hands on field exercises, and have learned how to use internationally accepted testing procedures to evaluate vehicle/driver's performance. They have a thorough understanding of vehicle dynamics and can apply that knowledge to driver training.
Instructor Levels
Certified Master Instructors
The highest level of SCDI is Master Instructor. Reaching the level of Master Instructor is a long and arduous task, and is only meant for those who instruct on a full time basis. The training they have received is unparalleled; the certification process is rigorous, time consuming and technically demanding. The process takes years to complete. To reach the masters level of instruction is a full time occupation, with a never ending learning curve.
Certified Instructors
Certified instructors are individuals who have attended our instructors program and have demonstrated their ability to teach our method of instruction. They have an understanding of the laws of physics as it pertains to driving. They
- Have a firm understanding of Vehicle Dynamics
- Can measure Vehicle/Driver capabilities
- Can and have designed driving exercises
- Can develop an objective scoring system
- Can supply accurate student feedback
- Conduct a training program with maximum efficiency
- Create and teach a classroom presentation
There is no other instructor level program that teaches this method of instruction.
Teaching a Scotti Program
So that there is no misunderstanding only Master Instructors are authorized to teach Tony Scotti training programs. Certified Instructors teach their own programs using our methods. If a program is conducted under my name, and instructors are using my name as their credentials to teach, then they have to meet my standard of instruction, and be certified by me.
At this time there are only a handful of individuals that are qualified Scotti Certified Instructors, and a smaller number qualified as Master Instructors.

He spent his youth working with and for a first class racing team. His career path took him into the security industry which now spans nearly twenty years. For the past six years, working with Tony Scotti, Joe has taken his knowledge of vehicle dynamics and combined it with his real world experience in, planning and managing protective security operations around the world to design and develop innovative scenario based exercises that are used in VDI’s training programs.
Larry Side
Larry is a former Non Commissioned Officer in the United States Army and veteran of Operation Desert Storm.
